JONESBORO, Ark. – A father who passed away left his daughter several rifles but a criminal who passed through decided to steal those for a quick buck.

Jonesboro Police Department took the report Tuesday at the 600-block of West Thomas. A woman had been gone since Saturday, returning home Tuesday to find her house broken into. She said she noticed the back door cracked opened and at first, thought she may have left it open.

However, when she got into her house, she could tell someone had gone through the bedroom closets and dresser drawers, pilfering for valuables to steal.

Four rifles which belonged to her father, now deceased, were missing from the closet.

Unfortunately, she did not know the type of guns or serial numbers – just that they were “very old.”

The suspect faces two felonies for breaking into the residence and stealing a firearm.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP.
