Convicted killer released from prison

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man convicted of murder will soon be home following his release from prison on Monday.

12627602_gLocal authorities notified NEA Report on Monday of David Lasley, convicted in murdering Wanda Turnbow in 1979, was released on Monday.

He had been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 1980 but following a U.S. Supreme Court decision, stating mandatory life sentences for juveniles were unconstitutional, a re-sentencing trial was held in the first week of December.

He was resentenced to 40 years in prison – of which he had served 37 – making him eligible for parole.

Lasley was age 17 at the time he committed the murder of Turnbow.
