Suspect had drugs in her bra and underwear, police say

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man suspected of dealing drugs was arrested in Jonesboro on Sunday.

It began with a traffic stop just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday night on Matthews Avenue. A white Chevy Impala made several improper signals, according to Jonesboro Police Department’s Officer Michael Talley. The suspect car was stopped at Matthews and Caraway Road.

But the driver would end up walking away with a verbal warning only. It was his passenger who ended up having a bad night.

getphoto-5Identifying herself as Mekiala Marie Kendrick-Jones, 31, of Jonesboro, the passenger was shown to be on parole. Officers can search parolees at will. Officer Alexandria Duncan assisted in searching the suspect. Inside of her bra, Duncan located a substance which appeared to be meth and another which appeared to be crack cocaine. A bag of marijuana was also found in her underwear. She had $775 in mixed bills on her person, as well.

The driver was searched and he had nothing on him, so he was released by police.

Jones was arrested and faces felony charges of possession of meth or cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia (felony), possession of marijuana (misdemeanor) and a felony parole violation.

She remains in Craighead County Detention Center as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
