JONESBORO, Ark. – While we won’t publish this victim’s name to protect her, she is not someone thieves may want to target in the future.

A woman at the 1000-block of West Jefferson Avenue contacted Jonesboro Police Department on Wednesday morning to report her 2016 Dodge Journey stolen. The sports utility vehicle was taken sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 6:40 a.m.

Once she made a report with police, the victim went searching for the SUV and found it at an apartment complex at 1656 West Matthews Avenue. The vehicle was still running when she found it, which she said would only be if the key were nearby.

Police searched but could not locate the key or the keyholder.

Police processed the car, locating a gray hat which did not belong to the owners. Papers were all across the vehicle, with it having been searched through and scoured. Police collected evidence and had the vehicle towed.

The suspect faces a felony charge of vehicle theft if apprehended. If you can help police, contact Crimestoppers at 935-STOP.
