Report: Fugitive goes crazy over sex toy

JONESBORO, Ark. – Desperate times call for desperate measures but this is taking it a little too far.

A woman wanted on a felony warrant from Texas made a strange stop at Seductions on Highway 1 at Jonesboro on Wednesday.

Craighead County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to the erotic specialty shop Wednesday afternoon after 4 p.m., to the report of a suspect who was caught shoplifting. The woman, Rhonda Lee Phillips, 43, of Jonesboro, reportedly tried leaving the store with a $200 vibrating device concealed on her person.

The suspect didn’t realize the security door would lock before she could make her escape, because of the magnetic security strip. She then tried making her way to the back door but it, too, locked, the report said.

Employees confronted the suspect, asking, “if there was anything that she needed to tell,” the employee. The employee said the suspect started begging them not to call the cops and “finally pulled the product she had stolen out of her purse.”

But that’s when the story goes from weird to wild.

The employee said once the suspect gave back the product, the suspect began to act crazy while waiting on deputies to arrive. The suspect started trying to break down the glass doors. She repeatedly kicked and pushed and jammed her keys into the door. At one point, the employee said that the suspect grabbed her associate by both arms and pushed her up against the case.

The suspect was placed in the back of a patrol vehicle to be transported to Craighead County Detention Center. She stated that she needed an ambulance because she was hot and was having trouble breathing and was transported to a local hospital to be checked out.

The suspect had active warrants out of Poinsett County and a felony warrant out of Texas, the report said.
