JPD partners with Arkansas Family Doulas to help children

Press Release – Paul Holmes, JPD Information Specialist

The Jonesboro Police Department and Arkansas Family Doulas have partnered to help provide diapers to families in need whom police officers encounter.

On Tuesday, Arkansas Family Doulas delivered to the Police Department a supply of clean diapers to which officers will have access in order to assist families in need.
Arkansas Family Doulas is a for-profit company that provides childbirth education, labor and post-partum support to families in Northeast Arkansas, Central Arkansas and the Arkansas River Valley areas.

In May, Arkansas Family Doulas sponsored its first No Child Wet Behind fund-raiser and diaper drive in Little Rock to bring awareness to the issue of diaper need. It is said that on national average, one in three families struggle to diaper their children. The Little Rock event raised donations of more than 8,000 clean diapers to give to families in Arkansas. No Child Wet Behind is a non-profit organization.

Anyone who wishes to make donations of clean diapers for the Jonesboro Police Department to distribute to families in need may bring the donations to the Police Department headquarters at 1001 S. Caraway Road.

The Police Department and Arkansas Family Doulas plan to conduct an awareness and fund-raising event in the future to help raise awareness and secure additional diaper donations for the project.
