JONESBORO, Ark. – A man is facing serious allegations of soliciting sexual photos from a young teenager whom he knew was underage, according to what the officer witnessed in messages.
Jonesboro Police Department was dispatched at 6:46 p.m. Wednesday evening to a home in Jonesboro in reference to harassing communications. When Officer Joseph Branstetter arrived, he spoke with the mother of the victim who is only 14-years-old.
The mother told the officer she checked her daughter’s Facebook messenger and found a highly inappropriate conversation between the child and Christopher Jesse Norman, 32, of Jonesboro, according to the incident report. The mother reported Norman is a taxi driver for City Cab of Jonesboro and has given, “her and her daughter transportation in the taxi before,” the officer noted.
When Branstetter looked through the conversation between Norman and the child, the dialogue was disturbing.
“Norman made it very clear that he knew (the victim)’s age and that he knew it was illegal for him to ‘date’ her,” Branstetter wrote in the report. “Even after Norman had stated that he knew it was wrong to engage in this activity, he asked (the victim) if she would delete the conversation.”
After allegedly trying to cover his bases according to the police report, the suspect took it a step further.
“Norman then proceeded to ask (the victim) if she would like to ‘swap dirty pics,” the officer reported. “Norman stated he had a picture ready to send to her.”
No pictures were sent to the account, the officer reported. The mother blocked and deleted the man from her child’s account and took screenshots of the conversation. The officer retrieved the photos and logged them into evidence.
Police have increased patrols around the family’s home.
NEA Report reached out to City Cab of Jonesboro. Owner Gary Banks said Monday afternoon he had not heard anything about it yet but added he would not tolerate the alleged behavior, if it were true.
“If he’s involved in anything like that, he’ll be gone,” Banks said. “He won’t be anywhere here. We’ve not heard anything about it.”
