
POCAHONTAS, Ark. – The landscape changes quickly in 2016 when modern construction equipment is in hand.
Over the weekend, major portions of the historic Black River Bridge in Pocahontas were dismantled.

As is visible in the photo above, traffic is one lane each direction on the remaining bridge. It was completed in the 1980s and is similar to the plans for the new bridge.
Once the new bridge is completed, there will no longer be the railing support/arches many in the area have grown up driving through.

Plans for the new bridge estimate its completion in 2018.
