JONESBORO, Ark. – One person died from a shooting late Sunday night in Jonesboro.
The initial call came into police dispatch at 10:59 p.m., said Jonesboro Police Department’s information specialist, Paul Holmes. According to the incident report, two men showed up to a home at the 1300-block of Flint Street over what they said was an unpaid debt.
The resident, Ryan Wilson, 33, of Jonesboro, answered the door and reported two men, one with a gun and another with a rope, shoved their way into his home.
That’s when Wilson grabbed his AR-15.
Brandon Edwards, 30, of Jonesboro, was shot in the altercation. JPD officer Jacob Daffron responded to the scene, finding Edwards laying in the yard with gunshot wounds.
“He had a massive amount of blood that soaked his shirt and I could see a large amount of blood in the
passenger seat of the vehicle,” Daffron wrote in the report. “I asked Edwards where he had been shot and he advised in the chest. I noticed a hole in his shirt. I then cut away most of his shirt and noticed a large hole in the top right of his back and smaller holes around it. I held pressure on his wound and advised dispatch that I needed EMS to my location.”
Edwards taken to a nearby hospital, where he died hours later, Holmes tells NEA Report.

James Bryan Campbell, 30, of Jonesboro, the suspected accomplice of Edwards, was arrested near the scene on a charge of aggravated residential burglary.
Meanwhile, Wilson has not been charged with a crime, Holmes said.
