Suspect Accused of Pointing Gun During Fraternity House Fight

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect is accused of pointing a gun and asking whether a person was ready to die during a fight at the Kappa Alpha fraternity house, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Kemauree Keentae Henry faces a Class D felony aggravated assault charge in connection with the Sept. 18 incident, according to court documents.

Officers were dispatched to the fraternity house about 12:10 a.m. for a reported fight involving weapons. Dispatch had been told someone had a firearm, and officers took Henry into custody because he matched the description provided by the caller, the affidavit states.

Officers were told Henry and acquaintances had gone to the fraternity house after being invited to a party. They were denied entry, and a fight followed, according to the affidavit.

During the fight, a person speaking with dispatch reported that Henry pointed a firearm and asked whether the person was ready to die, the affidavit states.

Henry acknowledged possessing a firearm and told officers he had a concealed carry license and was acting in self-defense, according to the affidavit.

Officers did not locate a firearm during the arrest. They found Henry’s vehicle in a parking lot next to the fraternity house with its trunk open, impounded it and obtained a search warrant, the affidavit states.

During the search, officers found a loaded FN FNX-45 .45-caliber handgun beneath the driver’s seat. The affidavit describes the handgun as being in a “cocked and locked” position.

A Sept. 21 probable cause order set Henry’s bond at $25,000 cash or surety. As a condition of bond, he is prohibited from possessing weapons, firearms or ammunition.

His next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26, according to the first-appearance paperwork.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
