PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is accused of first-degree murder after police said his roommate died from a gunshot wound.
Officers were called to the 900 block of East Court Street following a reported shooting, according to a news release from the Paragould Police Department.
Officers found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital but later died from his injuries.
Police identified the victim as Scott Hendrix of Paragould.
Investigators arrested Hendrix’s roommate, Steven Van Sickle, in connection with the shooting. Van Sickle was booked into the Greene County Jail on a first-degree murder allegation.
His bond was set at $1 million.
Police said the investigation remains active. No additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting was released.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

PARAGOULD, AR — 06 September 2026 — The Paragould Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Paragould.
Officers responded to 900 block of E Court Street in reference to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The victim has been identified as Scott Hendrix of Paragould.
Investigators with the Paragould Police Department’s Investigation Division have arrested the victim’s roomate Steven Van Sickle in connection with the shooting.
Van Sickle has been booked into the Greene County Jail on a charge of Murder in the First Degree.
