Police: Paragould Domestic Case Included Choking, Death Threat

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man was arrested after police said a domestic violence investigation included allegations that he choked a woman and said he wanted to kill her.

Larry L. Turner, of Paragould, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony, and third-degree domestic battering, a misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department, officers spoke with a woman June 5 who reported that she and Turner had argued earlier that day. She told police Turner grabbed her by the neck, causing her to fall backward and strike her head on the floor.

The woman said she told Turner she was calling police. According to the affidavit, she reported that Turner then grabbed her by the back of the head, spit in her face, punched her in the side and grabbed her by the neck again. She told police Turner began choking her and said he wanted to kill her.

The affidavit states the woman later left the residence and sought shelter in another county. Deputies in that county responded to her location and documented injuries to her shoulder and neck area.

Bond was set at $125,000 cash or surety. Court records also listed a no-contact order, a no-weapons provision and an ankle monitor requirement.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
