JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man was arrested after police said a domestic disturbance involving a knife left a woman with cuts and scratches.
Brandon Jarquay Anderson was arrested by the Jonesboro Police Department on suspicion of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony, and third-degree battery, a misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause affidavit, an officer responded June 8 to an address on Bowling Lane after a 911 hang-up call. The officer arrived and found a man and woman arguing in the street.
Police said the victim had a cut on her forehead, a cut on her right forearm and scratches on her left arm.
The victim told police Anderson woke up in a bad mood and began arguing with her because the air conditioner was broken, according to the affidavit. She said the argument escalated and Anderson grabbed a steak knife before walking toward her.
The victim told police Anderson stabbed the couch above her head and then began fighting with her over the knife. The affidavit also states the knife broke near the couch, leaving a hole in the top of it.
Anderson was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.
He later appeared before District Judge David Boling, who set his bond at $35,000. His next court date is July 30.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
