JONESBORO, Ark. — Two suspects were arrested after a Jonesboro officer encountered them at a gas station on Hilltop, leading to searches that authorities said turned up meth, fentanyl pills, firearms and messages indicating drug sales.
David Brock Buck, 38, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine or cocaine with purpose to deliver, greater than 2 grams but less than 10 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class B felonies. He was also arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class D felony.
Daniel Trace Cohn, 35, was arrested on charges of possession of fentanyl with purpose to deliver, a Class A felony; use of a communication device, a Class C felony; and possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class D felony.
According to probable cause affidavits, Officer J. Chaffin made contact April 24, 2026, with a vehicle parked at the Maverik on Hilltop. The driver, Buck, was known to Chaffin to be on active parole and was acting nervous about Chaffin’s presence, the affidavit states.
After speaking with Buck, Chaffin saw a gun next to him, according to the affidavit. Police said a handgun was later located between the driver’s seat and center console, where Buck had been sitting.
While at the same gas station, Chaffin also observed Cohn leaving the Maverik, according to a separate affidavit. The officer knew Cohn to be on SIS with a search waiver on file and knew him to be involved in the sale of narcotics, the affidavit states.
Chaffin made contact with Cohn and searched him. Police said 3.5 M30 pills identified as fentanyl pills were found in Cohn’s pocket.
The investigation later moved from the gas station to searches of the suspects’ residences.
Buck was taken to his residence for a parole search. Officers located a meth pipe, a digital scale and two bags of methamphetamine totaling 8.3 grams, according to the affidavit.
Cohn was also taken back to his residence for a search. Officers found a .40-caliber handgun in his bedroom, according to the affidavit. A search of Cohn’s phone was also conducted, and officers found multiple messages indicating Cohn was selling narcotics, including the fentanyl pills, the affidavit states.
Bail for both suspects was set at $75,000 by Special Judge Barbara Halsey. Both are scheduled to appear in court May 18.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
