Jonesboro Suspect Accused of Attacking Pregnant Victim, Threatening to Kill Her

JONESBORO, Ark. —A Jonesboro suspect is facing felony charges for an alleged violent attack on a pregnant victim.

Rishawn Omar Hughes, 39, of Jonesboro, was arrested for second-degree battery, a class B felony, and terroristic threatening, a D felony. He could face up to 20 years in prison on the B felony alone.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on March 16, 2026, JPD responded to a disturbance where they found the alleged victim with visible injuries, including swelling to her left cheek. She identified the suspect as Hughes.

The victim told police Hughes entered her residence to retrieve personal property. When he witnessed an unknown male in the victim’s bedroom, Hughes struck her in the face, then removed a television and left the premises.

But he returned a short time later, according to the affidavit.

Police were told Hughes returned and attacked the victim again. During the struggle, he allegedly held a kitchen knife to her throat, saying, “bitch ima kill you.” The victim sustained a cut to her hand while trying to pull the knife away.

Hughes then allegedly held the victim down and directed two unidentified females to “beat this bitch,” adding instructions to, “make sure you stomp her stomach in.”

The victim is three months pregnant – a fact known to the suspect, according to investigators.

After he left, he allegedly sent a text ot the victim saying he hoped she and her baby died.

Hughes was arrested on March 18.

“Based on the facts alleged I have read, a history of 11 failures to appear, multiple charges of failure to comply with court orders, your bond was set at $250,000 cash only,” said Judge Tommy Fowler.

May 18 is his next court date for the felony charges.

He also faced a charge of assault on a family or household member, a class B misdemeanor, in district court. He pleaded not guilty, with a trial on July 13. Bond was set at $10,000 cash only for the misdemeanor.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
