Jonesboro Man Charged With Multiple Felony Forgery Counts in Alleged $16,000 Embezzlement Scheme

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he embezzled more than $16,000 from his employer through forged bank documents and manipulated cash transactions.

Cameron Cooper, 47, is charged with 13 counts of second-degree forgery and one count of theft of property valued at more than $5,000 but less than $25,000, all Class C felonies, according to court records.

According to a report, a business owner contacted police on Dec. 8, 2025, after discovering missing cash deposits totaling more than $16,000. An internal review allegedly revealed a pattern of fraudulent activity occurring between Oct. 3 and Nov. 29, 2025.

Investigators allege Cooper physically altered old bank deposit receipts by changing deposit amounts and marking out dates to conceal when the receipts were originally printed. Police also allege Cooper sold store merchandise for cash, including a couch valued at approximately $400, and later voided those transactions in the point-of-sale system to pocket the money.

When confronted about the discrepancies, Cooper allegedly fled the business with a company laptop and a cash deposit bag containing $979.25, claiming a “family emergency,” according to the report.

Cooper appeared before Judge Tommy Fowler, who set bail at $75,000 cash only. During the hearing, Cooper asked the court to allow a cash or surety bond, but the judge denied the request, citing Cooper’s prior criminal history.

Court records show Cooper has previous convictions for theft in White County and forgery in Greene County.

Cooper’s next court date is scheduled for March 20.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
