JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested after police say he choked and assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic disturbance at a North Caraway Road apartment.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department, officers responded Feb. 11, 2026, to an apartment for a reported domestic disturbance in progress. Officers made contact with the alleged victim, who said her boyfriend, identified as Bibek Shrestha, 22, had hit and choked her.
The alleged victim told officers that during an argument, Shrestha kicked her in the face, causing redness and swelling to her cheek and nose. She said she ran to another bedroom, but Shrestha followed and punched her in the face. She further reported that Shrestha choked her to the point she could not make noise and could not breathe.
Officers noted redness and bruising to the alleged victim’s face, a busted lip and swelling, as well as scratching on her neck consistent with her statement, the affidavit states.
Police made contact with Shrestha, who was taken into custody and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
Shrestha was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony, and battery. Bail was set at $35,000 with a no-contact order in place. His next court date is scheduled for March 20.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
