VIDEO: State Police TVI Texas Man for Fleeing Nov. 27 in White County

WHITE COUNTY, Ark. — A traffic stop on Interstate 57 escalated into a high-speed pursuit and felony arrest after a driver refused to comply with police commands and fled the scene, according to an incident report.

The incident occurred Nov. 27, 2025, while an officer was conducting patrol on Interstate 57 and observed two vehicles — a white pickup truck and a black passenger car — traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. Radar confirmed both vehicles were traveling about 100 mph in a posted 75-mph zone.

The officer initiated a traffic stop on both vehicles and first made contact with the driver of the white pickup truck. That driver was cited for speeding — 100 mph in a 75-mph zone — and released without further incident.

The officer then approached the black passenger car. According to the report, the driver lowered his window only slightly, and a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle. The officer identified himself, explained the reason for the stop, and read the driver his Miranda rights. The officer then returned to the patrol unit to run ACIC/NCIC checks on both drivers.

After the white pickup truck was cleared and left the scene, the officer re-approached the black passenger car and instructed the driver to exit the vehicle so a probable-cause search could be conducted based on the odor of marijuana. The driver refused verbal commands and fled northbound on Interstate 57.

A vehicle pursuit was initiated, with radar confirming speeds reaching approximately 130 mph. The report states the driver drove recklessly for about four miles, passing vehicles and making unsafe lane changes.

The pursuit ended near the 55-mile marker northbound when the officer executed a tactical vehicle intervention, causing the vehicle to spin counter-clockwise and strike the guardrail. A Bald Knob Police Department unit arrived on scene, and officers conducted a felony stop. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities estimated the guardrail sustained approximately $500 in damage.
