LAKE CITY, Ark. — A Lake City suspect was arrested after deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance that allegedly escalated into a violent assault involving a hammer.
David Allen Bond, 63, of Lake City, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, a Class D felony, and third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies were dispatched on March 22, 2026, to a local hospital after a victim reported a domestic battery that occurred at a residence in Craighead County.
The victim told deputies she was awakened by Bond yelling before he began throwing items across the room. When she attempted to leave, Bond allegedly grabbed her by the arms and threw her onto a bed. The victim reported visible injuries, including red marks on her upper arm and a small cut on her hand.
She told deputies she was eventually able to leave the room, but Bond allegedly threw a chair in her direction and struck her in the head multiple times. The affidavit states the victim’s left eye appeared bruised.
The situation escalated further when Bond allegedly grabbed a hammer and stood over the victim with it raised. The victim told deputies Bond screamed at her before lowering the hammer and walking away. Investigators later located a hammer inside the residence matching the victim’s description.
Bond was taken into custody and later appeared before Special Judge Ralph Wilson, who set bail at $10,000 cash or surety. As a condition of release, Bond was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
He is scheduled to appear in court on April 23.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
