Jonesboro Police Arrest Man Accused of Violating Protection Order, Firearm Restriction

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man was arrested after police said he violated a protection order and was found with a firearm during a burglary investigation.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched Oct. 6 to a home on Warner Street in Jonesboro for a reported residential burglary. The caller, identified as Byron Flowers, 52, told dispatchers his residence had been broken into and several firearms were missing.

During the call, Flowers reportedly admitted that he was not supposed to be at the address due to an active order of protection and his status as a convicted felon. When officers arrived, they found Flowers sitting on the front porch. Inside the home, officers reported finding an unloaded shotgun on the floor.

Police say Flowers had a prior conviction for terroristic threatening, which prohibited him from possessing firearms. Due to the protection order and his presence at the protected residence, he was taken into custody and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

Flowers faces charges of residential burglary (Class B felony), possession of firearms by certain persons (Class D felony), first-degree stalking (Class C felony), and violation of a protection order (misdemeanor).

Prosecuting Attorney Sonia Hagood requested $20,000 cash-only bail, which the court granted.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
