JONESBORO, Ark. — Two men are accused of threatening a co-worker with a gun after confronting him late at night on Bernard Street in Jonesboro, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The incident happened around 11:07 p.m. on Sept. 19, when the victim reported that Jamari Louis Blankenship, 21, pulled in front of him in a white Chrysler 300. Blankenship allegedly exited the vehicle and accused the victim of “talking s—.” Another vehicle then pulled up, which the victim recognized as belonging to co-worker Aquawon Dewon Blair, 22.
The affidavit states Blair exited the vehicle wearing a black ski mask and carrying a gun equipped with a blue laser. The victim said Blair flinched the weapon toward him while Blankenship stood nearby. Blair allegedly told the victim, “If you tell anyone about this, I will shoot you.”
Police said video footage corroborated the victim’s statement and showed the suspects’ vehicles leaving together from a nearby Walmart parking lot before heading toward Bernard Street.
Blankenship and Blair were arrested on Sept. 26, jail records show.
Court records show Blankenship faces charges of first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony; harassment, a Class A misdemeanor; and third-degree assault, a Class C misdemeanor. Judge Tommy Fowler set bail Monday at $35,000 cash or surety and issued a no-contact order. Blankenship’s next court date is Nov. 25.
Blair was also arrested on a first-degree terroristic threatening charge. As of Monday, he had not had a bail hearing.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
