JONESBORO, Ark. — Prosecutors are seeking to revoke the probation of a Jonesboro man previously arrested for aggravated robbery, theft of a firearm, and other charges.
Malachi Jamal Beason, 20, of Jonesboro, experienced his most recent arrest on Sept. 1, 2025, when Jonesboro officers conducted a traffic stop near Johnson and Labaume for an improper turn. The driver, Beason, was detained. Police reported finding marijuana on him, and after searching the vehicle, found a handgun with live rounds.
He was arrested for possession of a firearm by certain persons with a prior felony, a Class D felony, and misdemeanors for driving without a license and possession.
That’s not the only matter for which Beason appeared in court on Tuesday.
Beason also appeared before the judge on a revocation of probation warrant filed by the prosecutor, who is seeking to revoke his probation on a case where he was originally arrested for aggravated robbery, theft of a firearm, and other charges.
That stems from a Craighead County Sheriff’s Office arrest on October 3, 2024. Deputies were advised of shots fired in the area of Craighead County Road 900, with a caller also saying a gun had been stolen.
A deputy stopped the suspect vehicle. The driver cooperated, the affidavit said. Beason was 19 years old at the time and driving on a DWI suspension. The deputy found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
After being read his Miranda rights, Beason reportedly stated he and a few people met in a field to shoot guns. The alleged victim reportedly wanted to see his gun but would not return it. Beason pulled a .40 caliber handgun out and took all the firearms, then left the scene to get a hold of someone named “TJ” to get the gun back to him. Beason was arrested before that could occur.
He was arrested for aggravated robbery, DWI, theft of a firearm, and purchase of alcohol by a minor. Beason took a negotiated guilty plea on March 14, 2025, admitting to guilt to the theft charge in exchange for prosecutors not pursuing the other charges. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation.
However, the petition to revoke claims he “failed to live a law-abiding life,” by being arrested for third-degree domestic battery and endangering the welfare of a minor on Aug. 3 in Jonesboro. The petition also says the defendant has a balance of $950 due to the sheriff’s office, and no payment has been made since June 18.
Bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety to run concurrently on both cases.
In his probation revocation case, the next court date is Sept. 30, 2025. The next court date for his newest criminal case is set for Oct. 30, 2025.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
