PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is facing a felony charge after police say he attacked his 65-year-old relative during a domestic disturbance.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Aug. 9, Paragould police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Purcell Road regarding a reported domestic incident. Officers contacted the victim, who reported that their nephew, identified as Jason Turman, assaulted them, causing minor injuries to the arms and back.
A witness at the scene corroborated the victim’s account, according to police. Officers arrested Turman on suspicion of domestic battery and transported him to the police department for questioning.
Police said Turman was advised of his rights and gave a self-incriminating statement during an interview.
Turman, 46, faces a Class C felony charge of second-degree domestic battery. His bail was set at $10,000 cash only by Judge Dan Stidham, with conditions including an ankle monitor, a no-contact order with the victim, and a prohibition on possessing weapons.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
