PARAGOULD — Prosecutors and public defenders from Arkansas’ 2nd Judicial District are set to go head-to-head in an unusual showdown: a slip-and-slide kickball tournament benefiting a local nonprofit.
The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Labor Day Park in Paragould. Proceeds from the tournament and accompanying fish fry will benefit the Northeast Arkansas Children’s Advocacy Center.
Sponsored by the Armando Fonticiella Law Firm, the event will feature a full kickball game with a water-soaked twist, combining traditional play with large slip-and-slide bases. Organizers say the lighthearted rivalry between the legal teams will make for an entertaining evening while raising funds for a serious cause.
Attendees can purchase Kueter’s Fish Fry plates for $25, with dine-in and takeout options available. In addition to the game and fish fry, the event will include opportunities to purchase T-shirts and secure sponsorships to further support NEACAC’s mission of advocating for abused and neglected children.
The nonprofit works to create a safe, non-invasive environment where children can share their experiences in a calm, supportive setting. With on-site monitoring by trained professionals, the center uses trauma-informed practices to reduce stress during interviews and exams. Its services extend to Clay, Craighead, Greene, Lawrence, Mississippi, Poinsett, and Randolph counties.
