Ward Assumes Leadership of Lawrence County Chamber

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — When it comes to community involvement in Lawrence County, Terrence Ward can’t seem to get enough. He is board president for the Wings of Honor Museum, and he serves on the board of the Hoxie: The First Stand Museum. He emcees the annual Beatles at the Ridge Festival and serves on the board for that event. And now, Ward is leading the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

Ward has been named the interim coordinator for the Lawrence County Chamber, where he began work on Monday, July 7. In that role, he handles the daily operations of the organization, and he has hit the ground running.

“What excites me most is the opportunity to connect people, history and local businesses in ways that drive real progress,” Ward said. “I’ve lived in Walnut Ridge most of my life, and I know firsthand how much potential our county holds. We just need to keep finding ways to unlock it.”

Cathy Tedder, who is board chair for the chamber of commerce, said they were thrilled to find Ward was available to step into the leadership role.

“Terrence brings both drive and a practical community mindset to the role,” Tedder said. “He is a gifted communicator, he gets along well with others, and he has a track record of getting big things done. On top of that, he loves Lawrence County and is deeply involved with the community. He is an ideal fit for this job.”

Ward, a graduate of Hoxie High School and longtime resident of Lawrence County, says he wants the chamber to lead the way forward for the entire community.

“The chamber should be a connector and an advocate,” he said. “It should support small businesses, promote tourism and help bring in new opportunities while preserving what makes our towns special. From infrastructure to branding, the chamber can shape how others view Lawrence County, and how we view ourselves.”

And why does he involve himself with so many community endeavors?

“Because this is home,” Ward replied. “I feel a deep responsibility to make sure our history is preserved, our businesses are supported, and our next generation has something to be proud of. If I have a skill or resource that can help move us forward, I want to use it.”

Ward and his wife, Mikayla, live in Walnut Ridge.
