Jonesboro Man Accused of Armed Robbery Faces Life Sentence

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect faces a potential life sentence after his arrest on charges that include multiple counts of aggravated robbery, a Class Y felony, in Jonesboro.

Jaylen Keshune Scales, 20, of Jonesboro, was arrested on June 12, 2025, on two counts of aggravated robbery, a Class Y felony, aggravated assault, a Class D felony, and two counts of third-degree misdemeanor battery. On June 18, Scales appeared before Judge Tommy Fowler for his bail hearing, where bail was set at $500,000 cash or surety with a GPS ankle monitor, no contact order, and provision for no weapons possession.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 12, Jonesboro officers were dispatched to a fight on Mary Jane Road. Officers found three victims who reported they were robbed by multiple subjects armed with guns.

The first victim said he received a phone call from Jaylen Scales wanting to hang out in Jonesboro. The victim asked to meet on Mary Jane and brought along two friends, described as victims two and three in the affidavit. Scales reportedly needed to step away to use the bathroom. While the victims’ backs were turned, Scales said, “What time is it?” The victims turned around to see Scales accompanied by other subjects wearing masks and carrying pistols, the affidavit said.

Scales then allegedly struck the first victim in the head with the pistol multiple times. Seeing this, victim three ran toward a residence, with victim one following, but two of the perpetrators with masks and weapons chased. A subject in a red hoodie struck victim two, who told officers the suspects were demanding money and access to the vehicle. The alleged criminals searched the vehicle and the victims for items and fled on foot.

$1,200 in cash and the victim’s car keys were stolen.

Jail records show Scales was arrested at 10:15 PM on June 12.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 31, 2025.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
