JONESBORO, Ark. — Judge Tommy Fowler, who currently serves as District Court Judge in Craighead County, announced Tuesday in a press release that he will run for Circuit Judge in Arkansas’ 2nd Judicial District.
“I feel very good about where Judge Boling and I have the District Court right now, and the timing is right for me to make this decision and announcement.”

Fowler has worked in the legal field for more than 25 years. He has served as a District Judge since 2017 and was previously appointed to the Circuit Court in 2015 by then-Gov. Asa Hutchinson to fill a vacancy.
“I’ve spent my entire legal career working in courtrooms across northeast Arkansas,” Fowler said in a statement. “The people of the 2nd Judicial District deserve a Circuit Judge with deep experience and a strong commitment to the community.”
As District Judge, Fowler has handled a wide range of cases, including criminal, civil, family, probate and traffic matters. He has also overseen specialty courts such as Sobriety Court and Juvenile Drug Court, which focus on rehabilitation.
In 2015, Fowler was appointed as a Special Justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court to hear a case after one of the justices stepped aside.
Before becoming a judge, Fowler practiced law for more than 15 years. He worked in private practice and served as a deputy prosecuting attorney in the 2nd Judicial District, where he led thousands of cases in both state and federal court.
Fowler has received several awards during his career, including Judicial Educator of the Year from the American Bar Association in 2023 and the Arkansas Judicial Leadership Award in 2020.
A native Arkansan, Fowler graduated from Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas School of Law. He lives in Jonesboro with his wife, Kristin.
The 2nd Judicial District includes Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Greene, Mississippi, and Poinsett counties.
The election is set for March 10, 2026.
