PARAGOULD, Ark. – A Paragould man is facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to break into a residence where a woman and her four-year-old child were inside, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department.
On April 12, officers responded to a report of an attempted unlawful entry. The victim told officers a man tried to force his way into her home after spraying her in the face with an unknown substance. She provided a detailed description of the suspect and his clothing.
Police located a man nearby matching the description. The suspect initially gave officers a false name, which came back with an active warrant, but the identification did not match his appearance. He then provided his real name — Michael King — who also had multiple outstanding warrants.
King denied being involved in the attempted break-in but claimed he had seen someone near the home. Investigators noted King has a history of residential burglary and theft. A search during his arrest also revealed a marijuana pipe.
King faces charges of aggravated residential burglary, a Class A felony; aggravated assault, a Class D felony; obstructing governmental operations, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
Bail was set at $15,000 cash-only, with conditions for no contact with the victim, no possession of weapons, and an ankle monitor.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
