Jonesboro Launches “Adopt A Dispatcher” Campaign

JONESBORO, Ark. — In recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 13-19, 2025), the City of Jonesboro is inviting community members to participate in the “Adopt a Dispatcher” appreciation campaign.

Jonesboro E911 operates around the clock 365 days a year with a team of 30 emergency dispatchers, answering an average of 150 to 200 calls per person per shift. These professionals are the calm, steady voices on the other end of the line when someone calls for help. Their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication often go unseen. The “Adopt a Dispatcher” campaign offers the community a meaningful opportunity to recognize and thank them for the critical role they play in public safety.

Residents, businesses, civic groups and organizations are encouraged to adopt one or more dispatchers and deliver a token of appreciation. Examples of acceptable contributions include:

· Gift baskets or bags

· Homemade meals or baked goods

· Handmade gifts or crafts

· Coloring pages or drawings from children

· Thank you cards or letters

· Donated meals from local restaurants

· Any other expression of appreciation

These rewards will be delivered during Public Safety Telecommunicators Week as a reminder to dispatchers that their work does not go unnoticed.

To participate, email Brandi O’Marah at BO’Marah@Jonesboro.org or call/text 870-650-2118 to sign up. Participants will be asked how many dispatchers they would like to adopt and what type of contribution they would like to make. Staff will share drop-off instructions and coordinate distribution.

This campaign is part of the City of Jonesboro’s ongoing effort to highlight essential roles within public safety and foster community connection with those who serve behind the scenes.
