Jonesboro Suspect Accused of Fracturing Man’s Neck Faces Felony

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect is facing a felony battery charge after being accused of kicking a man who had a prior neck injury, fracturing the man’s neck and putting him in the ICU.

At about 2 a.m. on March 3, deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Craighead 792 Road about an assault/battery that had already occurred. Dispatch notes said a man, Jonathan Inman, called and said another male hit him in the face. Inman said he was injured and wanted EMS.

Deputies arrived and made contact with Inman, observing blood on his nose and redness to the left side of his neck. Inman said Briana Hughes and her boyfriend, Jonathan Lindsey, went to the residence and began beating him for no reason. They left the scene after. The alleged victim added that due to having neck surgery, the altercation may have aggravated his previous injury further. He said both Hughes and Lindsey had struck him during the incident.

A BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued for the suspects. The affidavit said Lindsey was located at the Greene County Courthouse and taken into custody.

Deputies later learned the alleged victim had a possible broken neck and was at the hospital being treated. Later, investigators interviewed the alleged victim, who said he has Parkinson’s Disease. He was helping a woman move, but she complained he was too slow. The alleged victim called Hughes and Lindsey to pick him up, but they also said he was moving too slow. That’s when Lindsey allegedly open hand slapped him on the face and Brianna punched him in the eye.

After the alleged victim fell to the ground, he said Lindsey started dragging him out of the house by his arm. Once at the door, Lindsey kicked him in the neck, the affidavit said, adding that Lindsey knew he had neck problems in the past and was supposed to have surgery.

The hospital conducted an MRI of the alleged victim’s neck, determining he had a fracture in his C2 vertebra. The affidavit said he is currently in the ICU in a spine collar and awaiting surgery.

Jonathan Roy Lindsey, 29, of Jonesboro, faces a Second-Degree Battery charge, a Class D felony. His bail was set at $3,500 cash or surety with a no contact order in place. His next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Apri 24.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
