Man Accused of Striking, Biting Officers During Arrest

PARAGOULD, Ark. —  A Paragould man faces multiple felony charges after an incident where he allegedly resisted arrest and fought with police in Paragould.

Around 3:18 a.m. on Feb. 9, 2025, the Paragould Police Department responded to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center regarding a problematic patient, according to the probable cause affidavit. The patient was noted to be under the influence of alcohol and made statements of self-harm, He was reportedly uncooperative and cursing medical staff.

Police determined he met the criteria for placement in a crisis stabilization unit. While attempting to secure him, the affidavit says he struck two officers in the face. Police also noted he bit an officer on the hand while they attempted to secure him into a seatbelt.

Christopher Ramsdill, 20, faces three charges of second-degree battery against a law enforcement officer, a Class D felony, and resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor. Jail records show an Act 423 commitment, as well.

No mugshot was available.

Bail was set at $25,000 cash-only by Judge Dan Stidham.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
