JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect faces a felony charge after being accused of spitting in a nurse’s face in Jonesboro.
The probable cause affidavit says around 7 p.m. on Jan. 9, a Jonesboro officer was working as off-duty uniformed security at St. Bernard’s Hospital in Jonesboro when he was alerted to an unruly and aggressive patient that had been released from care.
The officer made contact with a man who was lying sideways in a wheelchair with his feet in the air. A registered nurse was pushing the wheelchair at the hospital.
As the nurse and the officer approached the door, the suspect became upset and allegedly spit in the nurse’s face. He was placed under arrest.
Jarvis Jarmal Hickey, 22, faces a charge of aggravated assault against a first responder, a Class D felony. Due to inclement weather, a temporary bond of $35,000 cash or surety was set for Hickey on Jan. 10 by Judge Tommy Fowler.
On Monday, Jan. 13, Judge David Boling set a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
