PARAGOULD, Ark. — An inappropriate relationship between a 24-year-old and a 15-year-old has the man facing a felony charge.
Corwin White, 24, of Paragould, faces a charge of fourth-degree sexual assault, a Class D felony. The probable cause affidavit released by the Paragould Police Department says on Dec. 4, officers took a sexual assault report where the mother of a 15-year-old reported White had engaged in a sexual relationship with her child.
In Arkansas, being 20 years or older and engaging in sexual activity with another person less than 16 (not the person’s spouse) constitutes fourth-degree sexual assault.
On Dec. 6, the alleged victim was interviewed by police. The affidavit says the child disclosed what constitutes fourth-degree sexual assault.
On Dec. 10, White was interviewed at the police department. The affidavit alleges that during a Mirandized interview, he gave self-incriminating statements.
Bail was set at $10,000 cash or surety by Judge Dan Stidham. A no-contact order was also issued.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
