PARAGOULD, Ark. — Two Walnut Ridge women were arrested for theft this week at Walmart in Paragould, just days after both took guilty pleas to different theft charges.
On Dec. 5, 2024, officers with the Paragould Police Department were dispatched to Walmart, 2802 W. Kingshighway, after a call came in reporting a shoplifter, the probable cause affidavit said.
Walmart employees told officers that the defendants were concealing items in their purses. Police recovered $224.70 worth of stolen property.
Authorities also learned that the defendants had pled guilty to theft by receiving on Dec. 2, 2024.
The affidavit alleges that during Mirandized interviews, both defendants made self-incriminating statements.
Brandy Oden, 45, of Walnut Ridge, was arrested for felony theft of property. The charge is a Class D felony if the defendant was previously convicted of a theft offense within ten years of the new offense.
Bail was set at $10,000 cash or surety, with the defendant banned from returning to any Walmart properties in the future.
Joanna Goodrich, 43, of Walnut Ridge, was arrested for felony theft of property, as well. Because of her previous theft conviction, the charge is a felony.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
