JONESBORO, Ark. — NEA Baptist Clinic acquired Smith Medical Group at 527 N. 6th Street in Blytheville on Monday.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Smith Medical Group to our primary care network,” said Melanie Edens, chief operating officer for NEA Baptist. “Dr. Smith has been a staple of health care in Mississippi county for 54 years. This merger will help bolster our primary care footprint and continue to build on Dr. Smith’s legacy.
The new clinic, now known as NEA Baptist Blytheville Clinic, will not see patients between Nov. 11 and 15, but staff will be available to answer calls. NEA Baptist Blytheville Clinic will reopen for patient appointments on Nov. 18. The hours of operation will continue to be Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It’s good good to see one that isn’t being absorbed by St. Bernards. NEA is better all around but one would think that having two large health care providers would be good for the customers. Unfortunately the consolidation of resources limits options as people are sent to the hospital their doctor is associated with or the one their insurance will pay for.
