JONESBORO, Ark. — Two out-of-town suspects were in court on Monday for probable cause hearings after being arrested for theft in Jonesboro.
The PC affidavit says on October 7, the two defendants entered Walmart at 1911 W. Parker Road in Jonesboro and loaded their shopping carts with multiple expensive items. The two defendants then left Walmart by exiting through a fire exit door. The affidavit said they put the items in the back seat of a black passenger car and drove away. $1,978 of merchandise was stolen.
Then on October 10, the suspects returned to the same location for more. This time, they ran out of the store leaving the items they collected without taking them. But a short time later, they were stopped at a traffic stop. One of the suspects provided a fake name, according to police, catching himself another charge.
Marvin Edward Stringfellow, 41, of Memphis was arrested for theft of $1,000 or more, a Class D felony, and obstructing governmental operations, a Class A misdemeanor. Judge Tommy Fowler set his bond at $2,500 cash-only, noting he wasn’t from here, and also that Walmart was seeking restitution for the stolen items.
Gary Wayne Johnson, 35, of Memphis was arrested for the same theft charge. His bond was also set at $2,500 cash-only.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Like the sheriff said, a lot of people from Memphis (and some other places) in jail here. Isn’t there anything left to steal in Memphis? Over there they just let them go.
