Inmate Death Under Investigation in Craighead County

JONESBORO, Ark. – An inmate died while in custody over the weekend at the Craighead County Detention Center.

As first reported by K8 News, the sheriff’s office was investigating an inmate’s death Saturday morning. Chief Deputy Justin Rolland confirmed the tragic news to NEA Report.

Brock Austin Tyner, 21, of Jonesboro, died while in custody of authorities in Craighead County.

Tyner was booked in on a Jonesboro arrest sometime around 11:30 PM Friday on a public intoxication charge. After a “couple” of hours in the jail, he was taken by ambulance to a hospital, Rolland said.

As of Monday morning, authorities said it appeared to be some sort of medical issue related to the intoxication that led to his death.

However, as it was early in the investigation, the chief deputy could not say conclusively what the cause of death was.

Video provided to NEA Report shows Tyner prior to his arrest. He appears to be having a bad reaction to narcotics in the footage, rolling around on the ground and displaying spastic movements while he complains of an inability to focus. Several bystanders attempt to calm him as they await responders.

NEA Report will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they’re available.

  1. Finally some information. Are the other ‘news’ outfits here waiting for it to be spoonfed to them and approved by upper management (Paxton and Grey TV)?

    • Kait 8 can’t be first with news , they don’t want to rock the boat. After everyone knows , then they may run the story.

    • …and when they do finally broadcast the story, it will simply be read aloud by a newscaster who stumbles over every other word.

What do you think?
