PARAGOULD, Ark. – A suspect finds himself facing a felony criminal mischief charge in an incident that involved the destruction of a local country club over the weekend in Paragould.
The Paragould Police Department responded early morning on April 27, 2024 to 1910 Country Club Road in reference to an unknown problem, the affidavit says. Officers arrived and noticed the Fox Hills Country Club’s clubhouse, 2005 Country Club Road, completely engulfed in flames.
Officers made contact with the defendant who reportedly told police he was driving and fell asleep. When he fell asleep behind the wheel, the vehicle went off road and drove through the country club building, catching it on fire.

Authorities immediately noticed something was off with the defendant. Police noted he had slurred speech, watery eyes, and a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person. After a portable breath test, the suspect blew a .227, nearly three times the legal limit.
The defendant was arrested and taken to the police department for a second breath test, where he blew a .19, which is over twice the legal limit of 0.08.
Officers interviewed the defendant on April 28 at the Greene County Jail. During a Mirandized interview, the affidavit alleges the suspect made incriminating statements, reported Detective Cpl. Tron Beesley.
Davin Jones, 18, of Paragould, faces a felony charge of second degree criminal mischief and a misdemeanor for driving under the influence. His bond was set at $10,000 cash only by Judge Dan Stidham.

The country club posted a statement on social media saying they will rebuild and be back better than ever. They also thanked the community for the outpouring of support received since the fire.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
