PARAGOULD, Ark. – Authorities were called to a disturbance recently at a homeless camp in Paragould. The incident ended with two people in custody on felony charges.
Officers from the Paragould Police Department were dispatched on April 13 to the homeless encampment in the wooded area on the north side of the Eight Mile Creek, west of Vance Street, in Paragould. The call referenced an altercation, according to probable cause affidavits released.
Officers arrived and made contact with four people who said they had all been in an altercation over someone defecating in a tent.
The potential defendants, Christopher B. Sickler and Denzel T. Jackson both had minor injuries to their hands. Each claimed they had been attacked by the other with a machete. A machete was located and taken into evidence.
Due to the conflicting stories by both defendants and both witnesses, officers decided to arrest both for aggravated assault.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
