Three Dead after Sunday Morning Shooting in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – Three people are dead with several more injured after a shooting incident Sunday morning in Jonesboro.

Shortly before 5 am, officers from the Jonesboro Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Burke, a press release said. A party erupted into violence, police said. Multiple gunshot wound victims were located on scene.

Three people were killed in the violent incident. Amari Ialanthe Giles, 20, of Jonesboro, suffered major gunshot wounds. She was transported to the hospital and did not survive. Dwight Starks, 24, of Jonesboro, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. He also passed away.

Police believe Tarail Moody, 32, of Jonesboro, to be the shooter. Moody was found dead at the scene but authorities are still investigating the cause.

In total, Moody shot at least six people. Other injuries included:

  • Female, 20, shot through the right shoulder
  • Female, 27, gunshot wounds to the abdomen; transferred to The Med in Memphis
  • Female, 24, shot on the right buttock

  2. Sounds more like a gang shooting than a domestic but the city always downplays stuff like this.

  3. Has anyone seen pictures? The other “news” outlets in Jonesboro don’t and I’ve looked at a lot of the other outlets that ran the same stuff the locals had. No pictures.
