JONESBORO, Ark. – Frightening home security footage of an armed man knocking on a woman’s door in the middle of the night in Jonesboro has landed a suspect in jail.
Between 12:35 AM and 1:06 AM on January 1, somewhere between the 1000-block and 2000-block of Brookhaven Road, a suspect was seen on a Blink home camera loading a gun and then knocking on the back door of a single mother’s home in Jonesboro.
The footage shows the man approaching the house while wearing a white Nike t-shirt over a light long-sleeve shirt. His hand is concealed under his shirt, reaching for his waistband, and he draws a small pistol.
From there, the suspect clumsily loads a round into the chamber. Sometime around this point, a woman’s voice can be heard asking if she can help him. It sounds like he says he is looking for a “lighter.” She tells him he needs to leave and that the police are on their way and he responds, “Yes, ma’am.” before he exits the frame.
By late Tuesday, the original videos had been shared over 250 times on Facebook. The victim, who requested anonymity, spoke with NEA Report. For privacy reasons, her name has been omitted from this report, and NEA Report consolidated the two separate video clips into one.
In the police report released on Tuesday to NEA Report, officers begin their notations on January 8, when video began circulating of the incident. One notation in the report, made on January 9, details an officer responded to the incident on the original night of the call in an attempt to locate the suspect, but was not successful.
However, officers located the man Tuesday afternoon.
Guy Anthony Moreno, 28, of Jonesboro, was arrested at 2:32 PM on January 9 for felony criminal attempt. He is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center as of this publication.
