Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Fentanyl Possession in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A traffic stop over the weekend resulted in the arrest of a man on various charges, including possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute.

The incident occurred around 9 PM on Dec. 9 in the vicinity of the 1700-block of Caraway Road. Police spotted a white Cadillac SUV with expired tags and unconfirmed insurance upon inspection.

While tailing the vehicle, the officer noted the driver’s significantly slowed pace, prompting the need for the officer to nearly halt to maintain the vehicle’s position. The driver eventually turned into Guthries, prompting the officer to initiate a traffic stop there.

Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered suboxone, a blue digital scale with residue, and half a gram of white powdered substance in a clear bag.

Mark Dillan Gassaway, 32, from Wynne, was apprehended and faces a charge of possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, in addition to charges related to the paraphernalia and suboxone.

Meanwhile, a passenger, Aaron Tyler Burcham, 33, of Jonesboro, was cited and subsequently released.
