JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro man is facing numerous felony and misdemeanor charges after a domestic disturbance incident earlier this week.
Police were called around 4:14 PM on October 17 to respond to a domestic disturbance in progress in Jonesboro. Upon arrival, they found a 44-year-old woman with an injured upper lip and a scratch on her right collarbone. The victim explained that almost every room in the home had been destroyed in the incident. She alleged that Jason Boyd, who had already left the scene, had become violent and struck her in the lip. Officers noticed that her lip was still bleeding.
The victim also reported that Boyd had attempted to choke her, with visible scratch marks near her throat. At one point, Boyd had allegedly threatened her with a steak knife, telling her he was going to kill her. Officers found the knife inside the shower.
While conducting an interview, another officer located Boyd and arrested him. A search revealed three small baggies of marijuana, one baggie with a large crystal-like rock (over 11 grams), two baggies containing Oxycodone pills (one with four pills and another with 42 pills), and $505 in cash. All seized items were placed into evidence.
Boyd is now facing a range of charges, including possession of meth or cocaine with the purpose to deliver greater than 10 grams (a Class A felony with a sentence ranging from 6 to 30 years in prison), aggravated assault (a Class D felony with a maximum sentence of six years), misdemeanor third-degree domestic battering, misdemeanor possession with the purpose of delivery, and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
