JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman is accused of threatening a code enforcement officer with a wrench and saying she would shoot him if he returned to her property.
Jonesboro police responded July 27 to the 3200 block of Race Street after the code enforcement officer reported being threatened by Alice Groch, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The officer had reportedly been speaking with Groch about her lawn when she allegedly threatened him with a wrench.
Police said Groch then called the code enforcement office and told staff that she would shoot the officer if he returned.
When officers placed Groch in custody, she allegedly pulled away from them. During transport to the Craighead County Detention Center, Groch reportedly slipped out of her handcuffs and made additional threats toward the transporting officers.
Groch is charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony, and resisting arrest, a Class B misdemeanor.
The felony charge is punishable by up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. The resisting arrest charge carries a possible sentence of up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
Judge David Boling set Groch’s bond Wednesday at $1,500 cash or surety.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 30 at the Craighead County Courthouse.
Groch is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
