Report: Jonesboro Business Suffers Major Losses Due to Fraud, Forgery

JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro business has reported significant financial losses stemming from incidents of forgery and fraud, according to multiple police reports filed last week.

The Jonesboro Police Department took the reports on Sept. 8. The victim was identified as Denvers Refrigeration Inc. The owner stated that between Aug. 22 and Aug. 24, an unidentified suspect intercepted a check intended for another recipient and made it payable to themselves. The check, originally mailed by an employee, was altered to amount to $26,458.86. Theft of property exceeding $25,000 is considered a Class B felony in Arkansas.

The troubles for the company did not end there.

A separate police report filed on the same day revealed that the business was victim to another theft. Between Aug. 3 and Aug. 14, an unknown suspect obtained the company’s credit card information and made several fraudulent charges, totaling $6,962.25.

Authorities are actively investigating both incidents. At this time, it is unclear whether specific suspects have been identified in either case.
