Suspect arrested in double homicide of elderly couple

JONESBORO, Ark. – The suspect in the double murder of an elderly Craighead County couple has been arrested for the crime and on Monday, his bond requirements for release were set at $5 million. 

Jonathan Dean Boyd, also known as J.D. Boyd, a 62-year-old resident of Paragould, has been taken into custody and is currently being held at the Craighead County Detention Center. He faces charges including two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, and theft of a firearm in connection with the deaths of Larry and Josey Boyd.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the suspect is the son of Larry Boyd and stepson of Josey Boyd.

Late Sunday afternoon, Greene County deputies and Paragould police successfully apprehended him, as confirmed by Chief Deputy Justin Rolland of the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office. According to reports, his most recent known address was on Third Street in Paragould.

Prior to his arrest, the suspect was considered armed and dangerous, as stated by the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation into the double homicide remains ongoing, with authorities committed to gathering further evidence and ensuring a thorough examination of the case.
