
TRUMANN, Ark. – Authorities are investigating a case in Trumann where a man entered a home unlawfully and was fatally shot by a resident, a release from TPD said.
At 4:35 AM on May 15, Trumann Police Department responded to the 500-block of Whitlatch about a shooting. The release said they arrived to find the lifeless body of a man, Earl Wayne Dorris II, 28, of Trumann. Police believe he unlawfully entered the home with a firearm while intending to do harm to the residents. Dorris was shot by a resident and died at the scene.
Trumann police say this is an isolated incident and that Dorris was known by the residents.
No arrests have been made nor have any charges been filed. The investigation is still underway.
Dorris had previously been convicted of breaking or entering in July, 2022, stemming from an incident in Crittenden County in November, 2021. He was sentenced to 48 months probation as part of a plea agreement that saw a theft of property charge dropped. He also had arrests for possession of meth and paraphernalia and theft by receiving.
