Poinsett County Jail

HARRISBURG, Ark. – The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office has stayed busy this week making multiple arrests in case involving suspicious activity with explosives.

…we are confident that we may have prevented an incident that would have caused serious physical injury or death to one or more person(s)

On Wednesday, Sheriff Kevin Molder announced in a press release the arrest of a juvenile for criminal acts involving explosives. The student was arrested at Harrisburg High School but was no tin possession of explosives at the school. The students were never in danger, the sheriff said, and the juvenile was taken into custody without incident. A search warrant was executed at the juvenile’s residence, a release said.

Authorities say the first juvenile arrested is charged with the following:
5-73-108. Criminal Possession of Explosive Material
5-73-108. Attempted Sell of Explosive Material to Someone Under 21
5-73-104. Criminal Use of Prohibited Weapon

Later in the evening, law enforcement agencies executed two search warrants, a second release on Thursday revealed. These were at a house and a business respectively in Harrisburg. The sheriff’s office said weapons and components to manufacture a bomb were discovered at the business.

Two more arrests were made:

Albert Tatyrek, 56, of Harrisburg was arrested and charged with the following:
5-73-108. Criminal Possession of Explosive Material
5-53-111. Tampering With Physical Evidence

A second juvenile was arrested, according to Thursday’s release, and is facing a charge of Attempted Sell of Explosive Material to Someone Under 21

“Due to complexities of this evolving investigation, we are limited on the information that can be released,” Sheriff Molder said in the release. “However, we are confident that we may have prevented an incident that would have caused serious physical injury or death to one or more person(s).”
“We are grateful to the vigilant citizen who reported the suspicious activity to the Sheriff’s Office that lead us to this discovery,” Molder said. “I am also thankful for the hard work from the investigators and officers at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force, Arkansas State Police, and Harrisburg Police Department. All agencies came together and worked diligently to assure that our communities remained safe at all times.”
