Body found in Jonesboro pond identified; death ruled as drowning

JONESBORO, Ark. – The identity of a person found in a pond last week was released by the Jonesboro Police Department on Monday, along with the suspected cause of death.

On February 24, the Arkansas State Crime Lab positively identified the victim as Felipe Nava Morales, 45, through fingerprint analysis. The ASCL also noted that no obvious signs of injuries or foul play were detected upon further examination. JPD said his death will be ruled as an apparent drowning.

The body was discovered Monday afternoon, February 20, in a pond located on Lakeshore Drive, JPD said in a release. CID and the Coroner were called to the 900 block, after residents discovered the body of a deceased male.
