JONESBORO, Ark. – A single gunshot ended up leading the JPD Street Crimes Unit to an apartment where a suspect was arrested with a stolen gun Friday in Jonesboro.
Around 4:31 PM on February 17, SCU investigators were in the area of the 900-block of Belt Street when they heard a single shot from a firearm. Not long after, a call came in that people were arguing outside with a gun at an apartment unit in the same street block. Officers went to the scene and could hear arguing. When they knocked on the door, police reported you could hear a metal object hit the floor.
Corey Thomas, 35, opened the door and was irate, police said. Officers detained him, reporting that Thomas resisted before he was placed into handcuffs.
Inside, officers found ammunition, a pistol magazine, and a Taurus pistol. Police found the gun to be reported as stolen out of Jonesboro. A digital scale with cocaine residue on the surface was also reported found. Officers located several more casings in the parking lot (that had not been shot) as well as two spent casings by the back door of the apartment.

Thomas was arrested and faces charges including possession of a firearm by certain persons (F), theft by receiving (F), possession of drug paraphernalia (F), possession of a schedule VI substance, discharging firearms within the city limits and resisting arrest. He remains in the detention center as of this publication.
